M44B19 1.9 DOHC – BMW E36 318is, 318ti & Z3 Head Gasket Keychain
M44B19 — BMW's final evolution of the classic 16-valve four-cylinder E36 engine
The BMW M44B19 was the final production development of BMW's M42-derived twin-cam four-cylinder engine family.
Introduced during the later years of the E36 generation, the M44 increased displacement to 1,895 cc while retaining the compact cast-iron block and aluminium 16-valve DOHC cylinder head architecture of its predecessor.
BMW achieved the additional capacity with an 85 mm bore and 83.5 mm stroke, while revisions including roller rocker arms, Bosch Motronic M5.2 management and a dual-length DISA intake system improved friction, drivability and mid-range torque.
Producing 140 PS and 180 Nm, the M44 became the engine behind the later E36 318is, the lightweight 318ti Compact, and the four-cylinder Z3 1.9 Roadster.
This GasketKeys piece recreates the M44 cylinder-head gasket as a miniature stainless-steel tribute to one of BMW's last naturally aspirated, chain-driven twin-cam four-cylinder engines before the arrival of the N42 generation.

A subtle BMW memento
The M44 occupies an interesting place in BMW enthusiast culture.
It does not have the reputation of the six-cylinder M50/M52 or the M3's S50/S52, but for owners of a 318is, 318ti or early Z3, it is the engine that defines their car.
That makes the head-gasket profile especially suitable as a model-specific mechanical memento rather than generic BMW merchandise.
