The Ferrari Tipo F120A is the 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 developed for the Ferrari F40.

Mounted longitudinally behind the cabin, the 90-degree V8 displaced 2,936 cc from an 82 mm bore and 69.5 mm stroke and used aluminium construction, twin overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, dry-sump lubrication and twin IHI turbochargers.

In European specification it produced approximately 478 PS at 7,000 rpm and 577 Nm at 4,000 rpm, helping make the F40 one of Ferrari's defining road cars of the late 1980s.

The engine was further developed for competition. The F120B retained the same displacement but was used in the much more powerful F40 LM, where increased boost and other race modifications pushed output to roughly 720 hp.
