Vehicle Fitment: Ford Focus ST250 Mk3

R9DA / R9DB / R9DC — the turbocharged heart of the Focus ST250

The third-generation Focus ST marked another major change in Ford's hot-hatch formula. The five-cylinder HYDA engine of the ST225 was replaced by a lighter 2.0-litre turbocharged EcoBoost inline-four, producing 250 PS in the Focus ST250.

Ford's technical data specifies the 2.0 EcoBoost as a turbocharged transverse inline-four with 2.0-litre capacity, 87.5 mm bore, 83.1 mm stroke and a 9.3:1 compression ratio. It uses direct fuel injection, Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing and a BorgWarner turbocharger.

The ST-specific version developed 250 PS at 5,500 rpm and up to 360 Nm of torque from 2,000–4,500 rpm, allowing the Focus ST to reach a quoted 154 mph. Ford explicitly states that this 250 PS high-output derivative was developed specifically for the Focus ST using unique calibration, intake and exhaust systems.

The R9DA, R9DB and R9DC codes identify different production/emissions versions of this same Mk3 ST250 2.0 EcoBoost family.

This GasketKeys piece recreates the engine's head-gasket profile as a compact stainless-steel tribute to the generation that moved the Focus ST from five-cylinder character toward modern EcoBoost performance.

Engineering & Craftsmanship

  • Industrial Grade Build: Precision laser-cut from premium 304 stainless steel with a durable brushed finish.
  • Protective Frame: Housed in a 3.3 mm CNC-machined PLY frame for protection and presentation.
  • Technical Precision: Cylinder bores, coolant passages and major gasket details are digitally mapped from the original gasket geometry.
  • Letterbox Friendly: Slim under-5 mm packaging keeps UK delivery practical.

Those construction elements follow the supplied GasketKeys framework.

A subtle tribute to the ST250

The Mk3 ST250 sits between two very different Fast Ford eras.

Before it came the charismatic five-cylinder ST225. After it came the four-wheel-drive 2.3-litre Focus RS.

The ST250 therefore represents Ford's transition into the modern EcoBoost performance era—smaller displacement, direct injection, variable cam timing and turbocharging, but still with a manual gearbox and front-wheel drive.

For an owner, previous owner or modifier, the gasket profile is a subtle piece of engineering identity rather than another large ST logo.
