The Lamborghini L539 was the all-new naturally aspirated V12 developed for the Aventador.

Unlike the long-running Lamborghini V12 architecture used from the 350 GT through to the Murciélago, the L539 was designed from a clean sheet for Lamborghini’s new generation of flagship supercar.

Displacing 6,498 cc, the 60-degree V12 uses a highly oversquare 95 mm bore and 76.4 mm stroke, allowing it to combine large displacement with the high engine speeds expected from a Lamborghini V12. Contemporary technical reporting notes that the engine weighed roughly 235 kg—around 18 kg less than its predecessor.

The engine debuted with approximately 700 CV in the original Aventador LP700-4 and evolved through the LP740-4 S and 750 CV Superveloce while retaining the same fundamental 6.5-litre architecture. Lamborghini’s official specification confirms the SV at 6,498 cc, 95 × 76.4 mm and 750 CV.
