PY 2.5 SKYACTIV-G — from Mazda6 and CX-5 to the CX-60 PHEV

Mazda's 2.5-litre SKYACTIV-G PY engine family has powered several generations of the company's larger petrol models, from the Mazda6 and CX-5 through to the latest CX-60 and CX-80 plug-in hybrids.

At 2,488 cc, the naturally aspirated four-cylinder uses Mazda's high-compression SKYACTIV architecture, direct injection, twin overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder.

The PYZR represents a newer development of that family. In the CX-60 and CX-80 e-SKYACTIV PHEV, the 2.5-litre petrol engine works as part of Mazda's plug-in hybrid drivetrain rather than as a conventional standalone powertrain.
